Thumbs up Bin Men

With all the bad publicity that the refuge collectors are getting at the moment just thought i would give them 10 out of 10 for their work that they did yesterday. Put the wheelie bin out on Friday night ready for collection on Saturday morning, then had to pop out to put some more rubbish in the bin before they arrived that morning. After all the gales and torrential rain we had the back alley looked more like a bomb site, what with card, rubbish and even the bins strewn all over the alley. When i went to collect my bin an hour or so later, it was a different matter altogether. The bins emptied and hardly anything left behind. Okay some bins had blown over again, but can't really blame the men for that. Only thing i would like to say to them if any of them reads this is "Keep up the good work, i for one appreciate it." I know i would not have wanted to go out in weather like it has been. Once again thank you.

Re: Bin Men

I'm glad someone's acknowledged the hard work our bin men have to contend with!

They can't really be blamed for the poor administration and lame systems that have been introduced of recent..

So hat's off to the lads!

Re: Bin Men

I wish I could say the same round here Sara. It's the bin men who drop rubbish every week when the bins are emptied and they never pick it up. On bin days Willows Lane and Ormerod Street often rival Whinney Hill tip for the amount of rubbish wandering up and down. It's thoroughly disgusting.

Is it not a sad and sorry state of affairs when public employees, doing the job they are paid to do is a cause of extraordinary comment?

Re: Bin Men

i think there must be a special training school for all bin men, ours are just has bad. I forgot to take my bin to the end of the drive just before christmas, one of the binmen walked up the drive stuck christmas collection times on the bin and left it, would it really have hurt him to take it down the drive with him...they are ignorant and rude and if your in a hurry to get past them in the car will they keep to the side of the road will they hell...majority of binmen deserve the slagging off they get.....

Re: Bin Men

You're lucky. You got notification of the Christmas collection times. I had to phone up to find out.

I do remember a time when bin men did their job properly and were courteous, polite and helpful. In those days I did not begrudge giving them a Christmas tip.
