Blackburn Road, Oh, Dear.

What a shame, all the problems with wrong type of Tarmac several re-surfacing attempts, what do we end up with?

As we travel to and from the old Glynnwebbs traffic lights, we hit another disaster!

Here we have a traffic Island that slows traffic to a crawl in itself.

What do we have either side of the road at that point?

An extra wide Cycle track that no-one in a car, (never mind a bus), can travel past without wandering into that lane!

Below are a couple of Piccies.

Re: Blackburn Road, Oh, Dear.

being a cyclist myself these 'bike lanes' do make me laugh, they just appear from nowhere, go on for a few meters then end, its a waste of paint if you ask me, what are cyclists supposed to do with the other million unmarked cycle lanes around England, go on and off the pavements till they find a cycle lane?

i'm dissing the council for being stupid, not anyone in particular

I think I recall I read somewhere that roadworks that create cycleways get a government subsidy - rampant beaurocracy - create havoc to save a few bob

There is a cycle lane and what appears here, a two perhaps three lane cycle way, How come I still have to dodge around adults cycling on the footpath in this area?

That includes the Amateur Policemen, they should set examples by using the road.

Re: Blackburn Road, Oh, Dear.

Manchester Road Haslingden has been ruined by the addition of cycle lanes and just out of interest I have never ever seen a cycle using them

Re: Blackburn Road, Oh, Dear.

how did people ever manage to ride to work before cycle lanes ?

iv said it before if roads are going to be marked up for cycleists and have areas dedicated to them then they shoudl pay road tax and insurance like motor cycleists and car owners

Bit of a cock up I would say Less ... shall we play a game of 'Spot the Mistakes'... I will begin:

B'burn Rd2.jpg

Waste of money on an extra 'keep left' sign .. particularly as you have illuminated bollards on the pedestrian island and warning lines. About £300 ballpark.

Re: Blackburn Road, Oh, Dear.

would have been better as a pedestrian lane, theres more of them in blackburn rd than bloody bikes.

They probably had to put that up there because when the road grinds to a stand-still at busy times people following behind won't be able to see the bollards.
