Blackburn's loss is Hyndburn's gain.

According to yesterday's Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Blackburn Council spent £93,777 on jollies for staff at luxury hotels, one of which was Hyndburn's Dunkenhalgh.

Let's hope none of Hyndburn's money was spent in such a frivolous way.

That price sounds about right for a night at the Dunk.

Yes the dunk is expensive, but why??? I've stayed there and its not all that the rooms are very plain, boring and not very comfortable. The food isn't brilliant. I want a proper meal not a strip of meat, 1 stick of asparagus and 2 drops of sauce, and don't get me started on the bar prices!!!

Is it the same price range as other McDonald hotels or is it dearer? I've never been.

Ooh ancient stones and trees! I know there are trees in the grounds but never knew we had any ancient stones in the borough. Has the Dunk got a mini Stonehenge that we don't know about?

Just food for thought, where do Hyndburn Councilors and Officers have their Do's, not the ones at the Town Hall, those cosy informal policy making ones?

Hopefully in council owned properties, at no expense to the tax payer.

Well except for their Free Trade coffee and maybe a chocolate finger or two.

With the presses interest in the Freedom of Information Act, comes a whole new insight into public accountability.
