Blackpool Piers

Just been playing about with Google earth , zoomed in onto Blackpool and noticed that the Piers seem to be a lot shorter than what I remember them as a kid have they been shortened? or is it a case of age and memory playing tricks

Re: Blackpool Piers

Were they damaged during those nasty storms of the 80s when a lot of piers were totally destroyed?

Re: Blackpool Piers

There was an helecopter landing thingy at the end of the north pier behind the theatre ,but it was wrecked and fell into the sea a few years ago ,in dreadful weather... no one ever bothered to rebuild it....

Re: Blackpool Piers

the north and central piers do have most of them missing on google earth although the south pier looks fully intact!!! very strange!!! believe me they are all still there in real life, well they were yesterday at least.

Re: Blackpool Piers

The reason you get wrinkles is the skin stays the same size but everything else shrinks.
Whats wrong with losing a couple of inches?

Wagon wheels WERE larger in years gone by, so were Blue Riband. Crisp packets contained more.

No need to lower the tone Ian

Had a look on google earth and the North and Central pier do look small, but at least they're there, I've lived in this house for 6 years now and on Google earth its still a building site.
