Blow up OFCOM and dance on it's grave
So it has come to light that BBC's massive programme Spooks is prevented from including scenes where the characters use phones in cars, because 'it sets a bad example'.
Let's get this into perspective. Spooks is a spy drama. It's plot lines inevitably include people being shot in the face. Has a single viewer of Spooks gone out and shot someone in the face because they saw it on TV? No.
Why do regulators think they have the right to judge (badly) what are bad examples for us or our children? Why can't we have any personal responsibility over what we watch or allow our children to watch? What is the point in TV regulating authorities? It's the horrid people that complain about programme content that keep them going. Too much swearing or sexual scenes or drug abuse in the programme? Don't watch it. Have some self respect!
The programming we pay for is being regulated by utter idiots ladies and gents.

Why can't we have personal responsibility for health? For bringing our children up the way we believe is the right way? Because the government and its departments and offshoots believe they have a right to meddle in the very fibre of our lives......we are watched.

Re: Blow up OFCOM and dance on it's grave
i agree with the content of the post, i still think its a bit scary tho, maybe a slight over reaction saying we should blow them up and dance on their grave.

im ringing the anti terrorism unit on you
on topic
if they were using tehir phones while drivingthen that would be wrong but they are actualy in a car been towed along on a trailor so they arnt actualy in control of the vehicle, also in teh real world a police officer would use a comunicating device while in persuit wether it be radio or phone so its ok to protray it in a drama if you ask me
i woldnt expect a police man to pull over to use his radio or phone whilst in persuit of a criminal for example

It would actually be the start of a pretty good storyline and set a moral example: spy using 'phone while driving crashes his car.
There's a bit in Casino Royale where Daniel Craig is driving a Mondeo at ridiculous speeds through Nassau and looks down at his handheld SatNav for ages. Of couse it's artistic licence and he hits nothing, but it was long enough for him to his a building, never mind a kid running into the street. This sort of thing has been in TV and film for ages. The (in my opinion) worst is when people spread a huge map over the steering wheel and start navigating from it while driving.

Re: Blow up OFCOM and dance on it's grave
The thing is we aren't aloud to think for ourselves anymore, Whitehall knows best, you will do as your told or else. We're now told what to watch, what to eat, what to read, were to go, we are now controlled in evey facet of our lives by people who think they know better than us. Was George Orwell so far out of touch when he wrote 1984

Re: Blow up OFCOM and dance on it's grave
stevie wonder once did a comedy sketch years ago where he played a taxi driver and as of yet i havnt heard of any blind people rushing out and trying to learn to drive
mind you thinking about it blind people woudlnt have been able to see the sketch to mimic it so iguess that point is now invalid lol
in life on mars gene hunt drinks whiskey then jumps in a car and sets off at high speed down teh roads after bad guys infact most of his team are drinking booze but i dont think that encouraged anyone to go to the pub , down a few whiskeys and drive home
