Re: blue comedians

Now why should a gay search engine know more about blue comedy than a not specifically gay search engine and why the heck should people need a different search engine depending on their sexuality? We're all humans ain't we?

Re: blue comedians

It wasn't a bar in the sense of a bar you are thinking of. There was a separate adult bar for the consuming of alcoholic beverages and enjoyment of adult entertainment. This was the family entertainment area where the bar served slush drinks (ie a frozen gaudily coloured fruity flavoured disgusting kids drink) and pepsi and milk shakes etc, sold hot dogs and those infuriating flashing toys that kids are encouraged to buy at Blackpool illuminations.

It was supposed to be a place for families on holiday to be able to enjoy an evening's family entertainment or for kids to be safe while the adults played bingo or something.

The poor guy should have been doing his blue comedy in an adult place, not in a place specified as the place for the kids to go.

Next you'll be telling me I shouldn't take my kids to a licenced restaurant for a meal.

Re: blue comedians

blue, gamy, gamey, juicy, naughty, racy, risque, spicy

suggestive of sexual impropriety; "a blue movie"; "blue jokes"; "he skips asterisks and gives you the gamy details"; "a juicy scandal"; "a naughty wink"; "naughty words"; "racy anecdotes"; "a risque story"; "spicy gossip"

Re: blue comedians

Well that's the definition but what's the origin of the term?

Yes, still doesn't answer why 'blue'.

If I was forced to make a wild guess, I'd say it was something to do with the colour of the censor's stamp put on something which was deemed unacceptable for public viewing.

Re: blue comedians

I was wrong.

A search revealed it was Max Wall, who kept his smutty jokes in a blue folder.

Isn't the internet a brilliant thing?

Going on your wild guess;

The R18 Certificate
BBFC classification designed to cover pornography

R18 (1982-present) - This classification was exclusively intended for videos that could only be sold in licensed sex shops.

Except in Glasgow, where the good city Fathers, influenced by the Kirk, think that Glaswegians, unlike the rest of the country shouldn't see the rude winkies and daisies on film.

Don't ask how I know.

They were thinking of the moral well being of the public. The Kirk does have a bigger voice and standing in Scotland than a few other orginisations inc the govenment.

Hope it answered the question though.

Re: blue comedians

Now which came first the blue certificate or the blue folder?

Good grief I remember seeing Max Wall and that was Morecambe too of all places. What an odd little man he was.

According to most sites the term 'blue' came first from Max's dirty little folder.
