Cue, cheering, backslapping tweets from the stereotypical banjo playing, single toothed clampetts of the minor legislative state with very little political clout.
Four hours later after a political backside thrashing from the big boys in the Republican party he posts...
"I would like to apologize to the people of Boston & Massachusetts for the poor timing of my tweet earlier this morning. In hindsight, given the ongoing tragedy that is still unfolding, I regret the poor choice of timing. Please know that my thoughts and prayers were with the people of Boston overnight and will continue as they recover from this tragedy."

All well and good Guinness, but you forgot to make allowances for him being American

A year ago the New York Times exposed the F.B.I. as 'terrorist facilitators'.
It is looking increasingly likely that Boston bombing was in this category, but I have not yet finished websearching for opinions about it. One particular viewpoint was provided by a retired senior army officer - video below.

"But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. Suspects naïvely played their parts until they were arrested. "

Listening to the Boston police radio I've heard it all now,

Very true, Margaret you make an interesting point, entrapment, which is what the NY Times is talking about, is a very dangerous area.
Of course if the suspect is going to commit a crime and you happen to infiltrate the group, how far do you go?
The FBI, DEA and even the AFT have used deep undercover officers for many years, one of the most high profile was Donnie Brasco (Joe Pistone, his real name) who was deep undercover for 6 years in the Mafia.
This is a grey area, unfortunately there are people out there trying to kill us, because we happen to have a different viewpoint from them, we cannot allow this to happen, so something must be done.
We could carry this debate on all by itself.

X factor, do me a favour, if they were filming in the front garden I'd close the curtains and ring the police to report a disturbance. My TV of Choice is the Discovery channels on Sky, very little else is ever on my box, when I'm not on here, mind you I'm not a masochist

The guy whose boat he was hiding in must have been the only guy in Boston without a gun or I reckon the perp' would be dead already.

Its a good job he's been caught in America, if he'd been here he'd be out on bail now, claiming human rights

If you were in that position and had a gun Mr. D. could you have shot him, I know I certainly could, come near me and mine and suffer the consequences.

Why kill him - that would rob people of justice and surely part of them being able to deal with what he's done is to hopefully see him in court and hear the why's and wherefore's! I'm sure you'd feel worse off if those who blew off your leg we're just shot dead and thus not made to account to justice!

Still stirring the pot I see, do you really believe in justice?

Quite a valid point actually Kes. For what he's done it's pretty certain the States will definitely pass a severe sentence. Now had the guy whose boat it was & who found him had suffered a personal loss due to the actions of this creature, it's almost certain the outcome would have been different. Maybe not to the extreme of killing him, but Harbours & Marinas are treacherous places & a severe fall resulting in broken limbs & face can't be ruled out.

He may not make it into court. At least, not in the ususal way. It's worth noting that he has not been read his Miranda rights on the basis of what the US authorities call a "public safety exemption". This means that he does not have "the right to remain silent." Nor does he have the right to an attorney. Also, some Republicans are calling for him to be declared "an enemy combatant" ... this means ... well, you can figure it out.
