do any of you know where milngavie ( pronounced mulguy) is ?
its a very wealthy and well to do area just outside glasgow...only the rich and sometimes famous live there...
quite famous in the west of scotland for its snobbery with pompous old people driving at 7 miles an hour on any given day...

So they're posh weegies. Still weegies though.

no - they dont class themselves as 'weegies' at all - infact most of them would be very offended if they were called that - partly cos they are too far up their own backsides - milngavie is a small town with very expensive little shops - if you go there shopping for an afternoon with a strong glasgow accent you get some dodgy/suspicious looks from the shopkeepers...

and whats wrong with 'weegies' ? - which is what folk from anywhere else outside glasgow call them (mainly edinburgers) - glaswegians dont use that word...

Yep thought it was out that way. As to why I was living there it was a mistake I made when younger. My first husband hailed from there, in fact I got married in Kirkie.

Got to agree but in my defence I was a naive young girl at the time

I do.

For six months I worked as front of house for Scotland's oldest jewellers, Laings, and we had loads of posh old biddies coming in to get their pearls re-strung from Mull-guy.

Told spug - and he burst out laughing!!!

Well if theyre having the commonwealth games in 2014 in Glasgow well why not have the olympics in the same area - that way they can call on Glasgow for the stadiums that they already have. They might as well get some use out of them!!!!
