Brit cash to fund Chirac
OUTRAGE erupted last night as British taxpayers were asked to put more cash towards a museum glorifying slippery French President Jacques Chirac.
In 2000, UK workers contributed £22,000 to an EU grant of £150,000 for the £2.6million museum.
Now they must stump up tens of thousands more — to go towards a £4.6MILLION extension.
The French government wants a new EU grant to add to its own funding.
The museum houses 4,000 gifts to Chirac — dubbed Le Worm for his Iraq treachery — including a sculpture from Tony Blair and cowboy boots from Bill Clinton.
It has its own motorway exit at Sarran, South West France, but got just 36,000 visitors last year, half its target.
Money that could help Hynburn keep the Arndale Clock?
The French are always available when they need us.
