Re: Britcliffe
in my book theres a world of difference between "Donated" @ "Presented" so i must assume the generous folk of Hyndburn have footed the bill, after all there aint much left outa £40K, to buy things like that,

Getting nowhere more like. You thought it said donated so you wanted a dig.

I reckon its fair game, having a dig at a plank that had a plaque put in the market hall saying he opened it, when i can never recall it being closed?

Re: Britcliffe
It would have been a little classier if it just said Presented by the Chairman of..., and a date.
Sometimes less is so much more.
Even in politics.

Na come on Margaret, who in their right mind would want to steal one of those, unless Red Ken wants a scalp for his trophy room

It was quite simple; I could not remember the exact words and that is why I asked if anyone could post 'em on here.
Much more importantly is why Councillor Britcliffe thought it neccessary to spend money on a meaningless plaque, other than to satisfy his own ego trip and possibly gain a few extra votes in the process.
Traditionally, park benches if provided by the council, carried no plaque. People knew it was there for a purpose and no ulterior motive was neccessary. Some benches were and are, privately sponsored, in memory of a loved one, and would carry a message such as "Here, for many years, sat Garinda and his faithful lapdog, Neil". What a shame the plaque didn't carry wording like that.

We decided we didn't want you bedding down on that bench, so decided against a plaque.

Perhaps you are more acquainted with PB's real motives behind his office than you would have us believe G. Or is it just that you enjoy having a personal pop at folks
As I said, I'm not at all bothered if you're a true blue tory, or anyone else for that matter. I just think it is completely ignorant to tell the electorate at any time that they have to live on a mere £38k. You are aware I take it that the Tory central office weren't enamoured with PBs presence
