Re: Broadband Tax

Broadband tax? What?!
When did the almost honourable, unelected Mr. Brown buy us into that market too?
Just what on Earth has the government got to do with our ISPs?

Re: Broadband Tax

If BT was a nationalised company I could understand it, as everyone would have a BT phone line. In that scenario it would be up to the government to inject funds (sought by tax) into said company for us all to have the same standard of service.
As it is, we have a competitive market where people choose the deal that suits them. I have a package with Tiscali that serves me brilliantly. My friends have a similar package with Sky. If I wanted a more luxurious broadband package I would pay more per month. As Less pointed out, it is up to the directors of each private company to decide what services they will offer.
How can it be legal to introduce a monthly tax on everyone that benefits private companies?

Since when has the Government let legality stand in their way, if it means they can make a few quid out of the poor sods that they govern, and I use the term govern loosely

Ooooooooo now for the difficult bit. What to spend the £18 on. Mind you Crimbo is getting closer. Be easier to try your luck on deal or no deal.
