They cant justify there actions its just corparate greed. Govenment wants more use made of public transport yet allow prices to rise outwith acceptable bounds.

Re: bus fares on the up

Bloody ridiculous it already costs £1.90 to go from spar in clayton to towngate in gt harwood one way - i've started walking from accy to gt harwood when I go - it takes 45 mins and costs me nout - by the time have waited 20 mins for bus and spent another 15 on it I have spent 2 quid to save 15 mins... sod em.

Re: bus fares on the up

Petrol on sale at the moment may be cheap but the most recent petrol that is being transported to our petrol pumps at the moment may have gone up, which would explain why they have put up petrol prices. I wouldn't know the current price petrol is being sold for at the moment though.

In other words the gas companies obviously know when gas prices will be going up before the rest of us. In theory they should put them down when it is cheap but they rarely ever do. I guess in a way though it makes the prices a little more consistent and stable.

Petrol must be regulated differently because obviously the price quite happily fluctuates by the day, but companies that depend on transport will obviously rise their prices based upon predictions from trends and such.

Either that or they're paying their staff more to get them through the bad times so they're charging us more I need to buy a bus pass again when I got back to uni so I'm not going to be best pleased if that has gone up too. I knew I should have tried to afford a 2 or 3 term bus pass.

Re: bus fares on the up

diesel prices are been deliberatly kept up and above petrol prices so companies can charge more for transport in all aspects of buisness

keeping diesil up keeps food prices up and causes public transport costs to keep up or in this case raise

did the public transport fares go up a few months ago when diesil hit its all time high or have they only just put up prices recently?

i could understand them putting prices up now if they didnt raise them earlier this year when diesil was at its most expensive to cover losses in that period but to put up prices both at its highest point in cost and also raising them when costs are coming down would be disgusting
