Re: Cage Fighting

hmm seems the news are a bit guilty of over sensationalism.

The children wenrt cage fighting they were doing take downs and grappling which is nothing more than ju-jitsu , judo or wrestling.Someone i know was supposed to be fighting that night and he says the the children were merely doing take downs and happened to be in a cage as that is what was available and would have used mats if it had been judo exhibition but it wasnt it was a cage fighting exhibition. The video on the news has been cut and edited to show what suits them as well.

The children arnt even wearing gloves like cage fighters do so if they were indeed fighting properly they would be bare knuckle fighting not cage fighting .

After speaking to someone who is very well versed in martial arts and cage fighting i can now see this is no where near the scandal that is been made out to be happening but to an average onlooker it does appear worse than what it is especially when in a newspaper and local news shows.

If cage fighting was been held with young children i would be appalled but this is nothing near cage fighting and is exactly what my own son does in a do-Jo.The wisdom of having young children at these events is questionable but not what they were doing.

i jumped the gun with my assumptions like most who have seen this have but the news has severely mislead people

Yeh, but you did raise a moot point. Not about what goes on in the cage, but what is happening in the audience.

I've actually been to that club a few years ago. It's between two quite rough housing estates.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Social Services pay the parents a visit.

yup

when my child starts to compete if he chooses to do so i dont want it infront of a crowd fueled up to watch cage fighting.Children's events/exhibition's should be kept totally separate.
