Re: Carol Barnes

I was saddened when I saw the News Report too G-C .. it's like a year younger than I am, and I am not ready for going yet !

Also, she had that terrible tragedy when her 24 year old daughter was killed in a parachute accident .. how do you get over that ? Probably not, wouldn't have helped her health at all. Shame, great shame.

Deepest condolences to her family. A great loss to this country and a tragedy in itself God bless.

I liked Carol Barnes. I'm sure tha losing her daughter in such tragic circumstances must have had an impact on her health.

It is a sad loss to broadcasting and a sadder loss to her family.

Re: Carol Barnes

I was shocked this week to read her age, in an article published after she'd had a stroke, I thought she was at least ten years younger. It must have been very hard for her, after her daughter's death.

I remember her reports from the Brixton riots in the early '80's, as well as her professionalism when reporting the death of the Princess of Wales.

I last saw her in a programme before Christmas, reporting on the homelessness, brought on by the alcoholism, of her former colleague Ed Mitchell.

A beautiful woman, and a loss to broadcasting.
