Celebrate a Wedding....Kill a Dog!
I am spitting mad...............
I assume that there has been a Muslim wedding today, Good on them, hope they have a happy life together...............
BUT!!!! Why should we have to put up with sporadic fireworks going off since one o' clock this afternoon??mad:
I used to have a German Shepherd that HATED loud bangs but now have just two cats that have been frantic and scared stiff for most of the afternoon. My neighbour has a dog that has been barking almost non-stop for the past 8 hours, poor thing is probably frightened to death, Probably most, if not all animals in the area have been going through the same thing, totally wrong, totally out of order!!
Everyone knows to keep their pets inside on Nov 5th for a duration of around 5 hours..........but how do you adapt to a foreign religious group that do not respect a country of "pet lovers" and can cruelly frighten the life out of dogs and cats any time of the day or night just because they are having their celebrations? This is wrong ...........and needs to be addressed by the government or by the Local Councils!!
WAKE UP!!! Those in power, Stop this NOW!! Let the happy couples celebrate their union, BUT NOT by scaring our pets to death!!!!!!!!
I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the mere touch of a dog means that a Muslim must quickly take a wash as he or she is unclean, If this is true, it shows that the Muslim religion is totally unsuitable for the life in England. I can't imagine the likes of Mani worrying too much about a Highland Terrier trying to make love to his shins while he is being bouncer for a local nightclub........but for the devouted, and non-westernised, It would be a terrifying experience, Muslims generally can't stand Dogs or too a lesser extent, Cats!
HELLO......... This is a pet loving country.....

Re: Celebrate a Wedding....Kill a Dog!
I know what you mean Busman. Some pets do suffer terribly when fireworks are being set off. My mum's neighbour has to get tranquilisers from the vet for her dog in the run up to Nov 5th. It's an absolute pain every year. At least we expect it in November though and we can prepare. I never knew until now that Muslims have been having fireworks at their weddings, obviously we have no way of knowing when these weddings will be happening so our pets have to suffer. There's no consideration is there?
I think that fireworks should only be allowed on 5th November, or maybe during that week but no more than that.

Re: Celebrate a Wedding....Kill a Dog!
Eeew hek Busman, you are angry, aren't you. Gotta' point though . is a little startling. Used to work in Man. just around the corner of China Town and they set off these fire crackers as a celebration; as it was in the midst of the IRA bombings era, of which I was close to two of them, wasn't very good for my heart rhythms .. so understand perfectly why the dogs were bewildered and scared

Thank you lily, this is exactly what I mean, we can prepare for Nov 5th, but cannot anticipate an Islamic wedding with fireworks during the rest of the year....

Firework law
Under section 1 of the Protection of Animals Act 1911 it is an offence to cause any unnecessary suffering to any domestic or captive animals. The penalty on conviction is a fine of up to £5,000 or up to six months imprisonment, or both. Enforcement of this section of the Act rests with Trading Standards, the Police or the RSPCA as appropriate.

Firework law
"Consumers, along with retailers, have new responsibilities. Fireworks will only be widely available during the weeks leading up to Bonfire Night and a few days before New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year. For the rest of the year, you will only be able to buy fireworks from shops that are licensed to supply them."
Cheers mick for your research,................so why do I not see blue lights flashing in the region of Willows Lane tonight? The statement above is completely flawed, does that mean that if I approach a company "licensed" to sell fireworks, I am ok to let them off at any time of the year??

Re: Celebrate a Wedding....Kill a Dog!
I think the setting off of fireworks should be illegal except on November 5th.
Any excuse and whoosh there up there.

Re: Celebrate a Wedding....Kill a Dog!
Fireworks are explosives and should be banned TOTALLY
-- well you wouldn't let your neighbours use gelignite or semtex , so why gunpowder -- all are explosives and hazardous when not under expert control
