Re: Celebrity advertisements.

The only celeb ad I enjoyed was one for Black Magic chocolates .... several years ago now .... Catherine Deneuve, in a little black dress, fire, candles, popping chocolates into her mouth ..... I'm not allowed into the over 18s; so, I can't go into detail 'bout my fantasies

Re: Celebrity advertisements.

The oddest 'celebrity' used to sell a product must be John Stalker.

Quite how having the former Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester, who only came into prominence when he was kicked off an inquiry about the shooting of I.R.A. members in the eighties, will persuade you to purchase a particular brand of electronic patio awnings, is beyond me.

Re: Celebrity advertisements.

Those Cinzano ads using Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins wouldn't have been funny if 'bit part' actors had been used

Re: Celebrity advertisements.

I can honestly say the Celeb ads dont influnce me at all, infact I usually dont recognize these 'stars' and dont care anyway.
I saw the Twiggy one the other day, well the start of it, the minute I realised what is was for I switched off and wondered off to do something else.

I like M&S for clothes, but if they want me to start doing food shopping there they will have to produce foods that arnt so over packaged and sell something I eat - ask them for their gluten fee range and you will see a haze sweep over the member of staffs face.

Advertising does have an important part to play in an economy that is on the downturn but it has to be advertising that understands the needs of the consumer.

I am not surprised you have a problem with softness with some of the 'things' you end up with

Agreed, though that ad campaign was a little different.

They were two actors, who actually got to show off their acting talents.

The 'Brain Training' ad' with Captain Pickard and that actress who seems to appear in almost every advert these days even if she's only doing a voice over,
Really gets up my nose, the money she's on she could afford her own toy instead of scrounging his!

It is so condescending too - as if all over 60s need training in addition
It is aimed at younger people who don't know what to get granny for christmas.
If anyone bought me one I would be insulted
