Doug I have an ox tongue oven bottom muffin every other day, it is one of the most expensive cooked meats you can buy, everyone to their own but 'tongue has a taste of it's own and it is full of goodness. Tripe I eat in the summer months always cold, my daughter goes early down to the market to make sure I get a little of each type. Today's generation with take aways by the score, microwaves to reheat the food wonder why these allergies abound take note.

Yes.. but they were hard days Doug..we were so hungry that we would sneak up on cows ..drag em down and chop off a back leg... we would stand it up and prop it's leg up with bricks... sometimes the farmer didn't even notice for weeks on end!

I know what you mean Ian. I've not eaten Ox tongue since 1966. It was a treat my Grandma saved for me on a Saturday afternoon. We had to tuch tongues before we would tuck into our Ox Tongue and Mothers pride bread. God I wish I could go back to those days.
