LOL ... certainly seems to on another planet anyway.
Point is Asda says they do have a service that will meet disabled people at their car and help them get their goods back in, but so far customer service has not been approached by this lady. She does go escorted with her Mum, but her Mum is not too well though and would find it difficult to help her get to the car.

It's not always that simple when it comes to DLA.
My Dad is a double amputee and had to finish work 8 years ago.
He already had motobility for his car and went to claim the higher rate of DLA.
Origionally he was awarded the lowest rate which wasn't enought to live off so he contested the decision and had to go to a tribunal.
He got asked some stupid questions such as do you think your condition will improve!!
He nearly said ive been putting my stumps in growbags to see if they will grow back but was luckily stopped from doing so!
Eventually he was awarded the middle rate.
If you have motobility you can either put the money towards a car with a little bit left over or you can get the money in full.
My dad used the scooters at Asda all the time and never had a problem taking them to the car(thought i should get back on topic a wee bit!!)

Re: change of rules
Don't know how many of you remember but in one of the threads there was mention of a blind man who used to man some telephone switchboard on James Street. Anyway he was blind plus he had no hands but for sixteen years he was refused DLA because they said he could get about on his own!! How bad is that? His wife fought the decision and eventually got a positive result but unfortunately it is genuine cases who are refused!!

Re: change of rules
Yeah what winds me up is all the people out there who get awarded benefits like this and don't deserve it yet the people who are genuine like my dad and the man bernie was describing struggle like hell.
Really makes me mad

I think its call playing the system Loz, the problem is that the people who evaluate your claim for DLA have no medical training, it is only when you appeal against the decision that you see a clinician. Its also the case that a lot of people don't know the ins and outs of applying for these benefits, to me its always best to ask advice, the welfare rights are only too happy to help

Very true Jaysay, if anybody needs to fill one of these forms out just ring Welfare Rights and they will help you. Wouldn't advise anybody to do it without help

Re: change of rules
why are people so eager to portray this disabled person as some kind of fraudster who doesnt really need to use a buggy, remember it could happen to you one day,
