Re: child allowance

to be honest i'm not really feeling the fuel rise at the moment, yeah i may feel it when the colder weather starts....i'm on meters and i wouldnt ever have them removed, they have been in since i moved in 12 years ago and i love them, i can keep an eye on what i'm putting in and using and not have a huge bill at the end of it, if i have to put £20 a week in the gas this winter it wont bother me at all, its just the price of living nowadays, i think this is a bad idea giving people this money, in most cases it wont go on what its meant for, as it says on the link that Dave put ip, its just a ploy to keep Brown in number 10

The fuel rises will be hitting everybody hard, not just parents. I can see that some folk won't be happy about this.

That's very true. One thing that annoys me is that the cost of fuel isn't proportionate to the number of people in a house. Boiling a pan of potatoes costs around the same for one person as it does for four. A TV uses as much electricity if there's one or twenty people watching it.

I qualify for nothing at all, except a 25% reduction in council tax now I live on my own, but the cost of living is going up the same for me as it is for everyone else.

I fail to understand why 'Sweeteners' are kept in reserve by the Government....If they feel that some members of the public are deserving of an increase give it to them...on the other hand, if it is felt and proved that certain members of the public are not deserving of the benifit...take it away.
The same should apply to all benifits......Pension credit is another bone of contension...If the Government think that a minimum amount of money is required to maintain a family home, bring the pension up to the required level and don't play about with means testing.
The Government did not fullly compensate pensioners for stealing from the pension funds in the way of tax?
What do you think?

It is a god point and the irony is that people who have not paid one penny in their whole life qualify for the same benifit.

Be better if they paid it straight to the gas or elec company, just more beer/drug money for some isn't it
