Re: Child pornography

No ones blaming technology per se, but when a child [ or an adult for that case,] can be abused in private, yet can be accessed and viewed all over the world, again & again because of technology makes you think. lf you go to the sports centre, make sure you go in a cubicle, you never know where'll you'll end up!

that is a reasonabl idea actualy

the 2 main reasons why i am against children having mobile phones is because if a child has a good quality camera phone it makes them a target to theives/muggers

the other reason is you used to see a lot of reports in the papers of ilnesses caused by people exposed to mobile radiation for long periods of time i just hope in the future we dont have an epedemic of cancers and tumours in our children, these ilneses were never proven or disproven they were just brushed under the carpet by mobile companies

on the plus side having a mobile phone does enable a parent to keep in contact with their child and vice versa i just wish there was an alternitive that didnt involve kids walking around with a radioctive brick pressed against their ear

Re: Child pornography

Well radioactive brick may just maybe a little overdone but i hear where you are coming from. However in this day and age its nice to know that if anything comes up your children can get in touch with you and vice versa

Re: Child pornography

hehe dont worry about it i have a real problem with quite a lot of things lol

i refuse point blank to eat microwaved food

besides tasteing awfull i dont like the idea of consuming somthing blasted with radiation i would rather spend the extra time using an oven and enjoy the taste

anyway back on the subject of perverts..

if you commit an offence in the uk with a gun you are no longer allowed to keep weapons of any kind so shouldnt there be a similar law with people caught using computers and the internet for swapping pictures of kids

granted there would be ways around it but it would be more difficult for someone to acess the net if there names were given to service providers and banned from having an internet account and if caught with a pc or laptop then jailed for 5 years

Re: Child pornography

We eat a lot of microwaved stuff.

On the subject of mobile phones - I use the speaker on mine as much as possible.

I was at Lakeside a while ago which made using the speaker impractical, so used it like a phone, and ended up with quite a bad headache, I believe as a direct result of using the phone.

With regard to children and mobile phones, I saw a report on the telly a couple of years ago, that was really quite worrying.

At the age of 5, the 'microwaves' generated by a mobile phone penetrate 50% into the child's brain. This reduces to around 30% for a child aged 10, and reduces as you get older and the skull thickens.

I don't see why a child needs a phone - we always know where our children are, and the people they are with have a phone, or can get to one, so it is not necessary to have one.

Re: Child pornography

My oldest daughter is at school across the other side of town and sometimes gets delayed for one reason or other. The teachers have at times asked her if she can use her mobile phone to let me know. Also I do like to think that there is a way I can get in touch with her just in case I have to go out before she gets home or something and she wouldn't know where I was.

Mind you, she doesn't always remember to switch the thing on when she comes out of school so the theory doesn't necessarily work in practice.

Does the school not have a telephone?

That's one way of contacting her. If I needed to contact my son in a hurry, that's the method I would use.

As I said in my previous post - our children are with people with access to a phone, so it really is not necessary for them to have one.

Re: Child pornography

The school does have a phone but when you ring you get an answering machine with various assorted options of buttons to press for different subjects.

If she was still in school then possibly a message just might get to her but I wouldn't bank on it.

However, I may need to contact her after lessons end but before she gets home - it takes her quite a while to get from all the way over there to all the way over here. To give you an idea - she leaves at 8am in the morning to get there on time.
