Re: Children in Need
The spice girls, like Leona were also miming.
Westlife and Annie Lennox were live though as was David Gray. Ipersonally would pay good money to see Annie Lennox live, I think she is one of the most extraordiary female singers ever to appear on stage. She's just fab!!!

Re: Children in Need
Great that so much money is being raised for worthy causes, however the whole thing is tainted for me since it was revealed that Sir Terry Wogan pockets a fee for tonight of £75,000, and has done since the charity was launched, even though all the other performers and presenters give their time for free.
The whole thing is a bit of a shambles. It's like watching Saturday night telly in the old East Germany.
After a very unfunny Hotel Babylon/Fawlty Towers scetch, Sir Tel asks Prunella Scales if she enjoyed reviving the role of Sybil Fawlty, to which she replied she'd forgoten what to say. Silence.
Still, lots of money for charity, and the lovely Fiona Bruce's legs looked great in the Chicago set.

I thought Terry Wogan wasn't taking his fees for tonight.

I hope so. Good to hear, though I think the fact that this was exposed earlier this year, and made public, may have something to do with his change of heart.

Re: Children in Need
You have to feel sorry for Fern Cotton. Co-presenter of the show, not only having to work with some dementia stricken geriatric but she also gets last pick in the wardrobe department.

Re: Children in Need
Now that Terry Wogan wasn't getting paid does that mean the BBC will be donating the money to Children In Need instead?
I'm just trying to work out how it benefits the charity.

Him not being paid his seventy five grand fee this year, doesn't benefit the charity.
I suppose it allows him to stand there, not feeling guilty, amongst all the other performers who have given their time for free.
The BBC will probably just split the £75,000 between those other two underpaid presenters, Ross and Norton.
