on the news this morning they was saying that the price of fish is going up
down to the skippers having to pay more for there Diesel. for there boats it will cost u £3 to £4.for a fish.

I don't think they're going to sell many at £4 a throw pam, at the moment I'm getting fish for £2 a time from the Chinese on Dill Hall Lane, but I'll give it a miss at £4

i havent been to that chinese since i was about 14 Jay, i used to live up that area

i moan at having to pay £2.75 for it when we go to Halifax, i certainly wont be paying £4 for it, i like fish....but not that much

Well, him on Whalley rd next to Oakleigh is doing fish and chips for £2-00 and they are Mmmm nice!

Who'd pay £4 for a fish?

That's before your chips, peas, gravy etc.

That'll kill the fish and chips trade.

You could go out for a meal in a restaurant instead at those prices......as long as you don't have fish I suppose.

You could, if there are 4 of you and you're all having fish, chips, peas and gravy it's going to cost about £6 a head at those prices.....that's £24.

Serves who allright ? the fishermen who are having to pay the increased costs for fuel ?, or the Chip shop owners who are forced to up their prices because because of increased costs in basic supplies ?

I suppose it doesn't help that our fishermen have to adhere to European fishing quotas, this by itself is pushing up the price of fish

I’m sorry to say but the fish and chips offered today are just tasteless compared to what we got in the forties and fifties. There is the odd chip shop that does produce a reasonable dish but in the main fish and chips is just an expensive, tasteless, stomach filler.
