Re: Chocolate tax
Of course it was a silly idea to put extra tax on chocolate, would not make one iota of difference to people who eat it in excess. They are heavy eaters and would only switch to eating excessive amounts of peanuts in front of the telly at night, which would probably be at least half the recommended amount of calories per day.
Obesity is becoming a problem, and beginning to cost the NHS heavily with diabetes, etc. If nothing else, this Doctor has just brought the problem to the fore, and maybe educated a few people as to what is a decent calorific value to consume on a day to day basis.
As usual, everything in moderation.
Not preaching, I smoke too much, and probably have more than the recommended quota of wine every week, but I do know the dangers and, as more facts come out, urging me to rethink about my lifestyle.

Could make a comment on why the kilts but that would be naughty. Buckfast is the devils own drink mi thinks it is vile. Deep fried mars bars or any other deep fried choccy I aint tried and have no intention of. Taxing choccy because people overindulge is wrong very wrong.

Only if they put chocolate in the batter. Now there is a thought we have beer batter so why not choccy flavoured batter might make a few quid from that i think. A choccoholic could get their fix plus some omega 3 as well. Though wouldnt mind a tax on deep fried pies.

Re: Chocolate tax
Then it will be the fizzy pop that gets a stealth tax slapped on it.
I just wish they would leave us alone to make our own choices about what we want to eat and drink.
I am big enough and old enough to decide what is good for me. I don't need a nanny state to monitor my choices.....everything in moderation.

Spot on Margaret. Sadly the nanny state wants to control everything we do. Wont be long before they want us to eat as they say and but thousands on the dole that work in the industries that provide our little treats.
