Re: Clayton Con Club Fire
No outward signs of damage, however, was a van there which specialised in cleaning up fire and flood damage, so the stewards/committee have been quick off the mark getting it sorted.

Re: Clayton Con Club Fire
The window for the kitchen had been completely burnt out but as it is on the canal side of the building you wouldn't have seen it from the road Katex.
Deffo arson as there was a pile of papers screwed up in the kitchen that were set on fire and the lock to access the upstairs had been jemmied/broken off.
The link below is to the LET article in todays paper:
Arson fear over blaze at Clayton-le-Moors club (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Re: Clayton Con Club Fire
Wammy seems to get everywhere, doesn't he? I once came across him while walking down a street in Benidorm, entertaining a group of holidaymakers outside a bar. When he saw my Stanley shirt, he invited me up for an inpromptu "Accy-Accy-Accy Stanley" chant before extolling the virtues of our local football team to the assembled masses. Mrs H, meanwhile, had crossed the street and was busily pretending to be an ordinary Spanish houswife with no actual connection with the lunatic over the road, while Wammy's audience looked on in bemused wonder...
sorry for the thread wander.

There is still a 70th birthday party going ahead on the 15th, (this Fri comeing), It will be in the downstairs bar. I will be working on that night so do come and say hi to me.
If it's the 70th birthday party in October, then the upstairs bar will be finished by then, I will be working then too. That bar upstairs is MY baby!!
The fire there was really upsetting for me, I've been brought up with my dad being the steward there for years. The new stewardess, Hazel, is fantastic and really turning the place around. She's worked damned hard to get it back up and running after the fire.
Was working last night, and it as a good night too, (bingo and all!! considering Phil won!!!!). The artist was fab too.
