ooowww Willow my Christmas poinsettia are still going strong too, poor things are all confused!

I know we have not had a very bad winter.......but if this is global warming, do you mind if I keep my vest on?

Re: Climate change???

Amen to that, Margaret. I work part-time in an office which can get very warm indeed. All Winter my younger colleagues have been going around in shirt-sleeves (men), bare arms (women) and I'm sitting there with 2 jumpers and a body-warmer on. They are opening windows and turning on fans while I shiver. I am 2 years into Pension age and I'm sure I wasn't so nesh 10 years ago.

Re: Climate change???

To bring the thread back to the original observation, bees at the begining of March, for those of you who can manage to get out and about, the BeeB is asking people to keep a look out for Bumble Bees, Ladybirds and Frogspawn as indicators of climate change.

Re: Climate change???

I have often wondered how the "clout" in the proverb is different from those my mother used to hand out with astonishing and painful regularity.

I'm sure I am telling you something you already know A-B, but 'clout' is a lancashire way of saying clothes or cloth......but yes clouts were what we got......and while we are on the subject May didn't refer to the month but to the flowers of the Hawthorn bush, because they are only supposed to appear after a spell of warmish sunny weather.

What would we do without our very own wise-woman?

P. S. Yes, you may keep your vest on, I won't tell anyone. I myself usually hang on to my liberty bodice till well into June.

oh, thanx A-B.....I've never been called that before.....silly old baggage yes.....wise woman ......no.
I've got a vest and a liberty bodice on. If anyone were foolish enough to try to molest me, by the time they got to skin the urge would have passed.

Re: Climate change???

Returning once again to the original observation, I had a queen wasp in my kitchen this afternoon, busily hunting for a nesting site around the plant pots on the windowsill. The soil has not warmed up sufficiently for the nest of ground bees on the side garden to become active but I'm keeping an eye on the spot.
