Climate change???
I've seen everything now. I have got used to the idea that daffs and snowdrops and crocuses are coming up earlier and earlier each year. And that leaves are staying on the trees for longer too.
But since when did bees start patrolling the garden at the begining of March? I've just had one banging it's head against my window! What's going on?

Re: Climate change???
I saw a bee 2 weeks ago, but I guess it's a bit warmer down here in Kent.
However, it seems that we got more snow than you did...

Re: Climate change???
The picture for March on calendars will have to be changed to show snow on the ground with bee's buzzing around - very confusing!!!

Speaking to my daughter in Bedfordshire, you have apparently had many mornings of hard frost to clear off windscreens, but in Accy, I can't remember the last time I needed to get the scraper out

Re: Climate change???
When I go to work at 5:45am, there have been many mornings when an ice scraper has been the order of the day.
It was not as bad as three weeks ago when I was working in Poland, it was -22 celcius on a couple of mornings.

If I was a Bee out this time of year I too would try desperately to get some-one to let me in.

Re: Climate change???
Interestingly, Gardeners World on BBC 2 were asking the same question, re: bees and stuff that is out earlier than usual, apparently you can send in your observations via their website.

My American cousin knows the person who took that photo and the others. Small world isn't it.

Re: Climate change???
There is a definite North South divide. l had the same geraniums in my window box in London for 13 years, untouched by frost. The only pests were the snails, which l don't now have in Ossy, is it to cold-do you have 'em?
The all year round mild, wet, damp, climate we are having would be perfect for spinning/ weaving cotton.
Ooops! Too late.

Enjoy it we don't get to see anything of summer until some time in June. We may have a week or so of decent weather then we go back to winter. In fact I am still waiting for last summer to come.
My old mum used to say life goes faster the older you get. I used to think she was nuts. it is true though despite the same number of days life sure does go by faster.

Re: Climate change???
If it's any consolation I don't think last summer ever really arrived here either - or maybe we'd just been spoiled by the one before.
I've got snowdrops, crocus and daffs in my garden at the same time. They used to come up one after the other. In the house I've got an Easter cactus flowering so maybe that's confused as well but it isn't far out because Easter is early this year.
