John what gave you that idea? We have both lead full lives and have in the course of those lives come into contact with the worn and the worldly....and some of it rubbed off!

Whilst thinking and maybe dreading what your winter fuel bills might be, spare a thought for this old dear who has been refused help

Well I think we should have a whip round for the old dear, don't want her to get her tootsies cold during the winter

Typical Independent - the Queen did not apply for it - one of the staff did.
I agree with the decision and still cannot understand why she needs four palaces - at least two if not three should be given up.
However, the government would still have to pick up the tab for maintenance and upkeep of them, but she and her successors could always go to a Commonwealth country for a holiday, rather than Windsor, Sandringham or Balmoral.

Re: Cold Winter Fuel Payments for Pensioners to be cut

I was listening to an old Goon Show (Tales of Old Dartmoor) that had Seagoon referring to a con man prisoner who was no longer inside - he'd become an MP.

We talk about a lack of respect as if it's a new phenomenon, whereas it's always been with us. If kids lack respect it's because of the way we taught them, or taught their parents. We only have ourselves to blame, folks.

Depends on how old you are, I was brought up to respect my parents, teachers, police, in fact was taught the difference between right and wrong, I'm now 64 and still hold those values today

I still do respect the Queen Mancie - I took the oath 3 times. Can't say I have the same respect for Charles, Andrew and Edward.
Wills & Harry along with the Princess Royal and her children are a different class, any of the latter I would support fully.

I would like the crown to go straight to William when Liz kicks it, would do wonders for the Monarchy and would be a great King

So, your hoping Charles dies before his mum are you, what a wonderfully Christian attitude.
