Re: Coming of age.

I think they should teach modern politics in schools. More people might vote if they understood it or got enthusiastic about it from an early age.

The question ten is "at what age are they introduced to modern politics?"

Re: Coming of age.

The problem is; as soon as children are introduced to modern politics - it is at that very moment that they realise everything that is wrong with the world and lose every last bit of childlike innocence we should be trying to savour for them; with the evils of alcohol & drugs hitting children at earlier and earlier ages.

I dont think they should lower the age for voting, some are very mature but a lot aren't and also there not that interested.

Re: Coming of age.

you could say the same about a lot of over 18's, grego; with the voting turnout.

no they shouldnt lower the age of voting cause i dont think it would make a difference really, except the fact that government may take more notice of the younger generation but is that a good thing lol

Re: Coming of age.

Let's face it no government gives a flying charlie about who votes/how old they are; they just want a potential bigger percentage of voting turnout. Yes it will be a fad and a few will vote but at the end of the day 16 year olds aren't that stupid; they know their vote is only valued as a number not as an opinion - so why spare the hassle to swap a deckchair on the titanic?
