Re: Conservative Party Conference
No matter how may cronies Blair fill the upper house with, it's still amazing that we have a second unelected chamber, whose decisions rule our lives, who are still only there through the privilage of their birth.

Re: Conservative Party Conference
Hmmm. Funny, that. Blair can use the Parliament Act to force through legislation, but only when it suits him, apparently. Must not be that important after all. However, correct me if I am wrong but, I thought that the Government had a majority in the House of Lords too?

He does but as you can see from my past posts I'm not keen on any unelected second house.
I'm suprised you didn't follow the progress of the repeal of clause 28, you being artistic and educated though.

Re: Conservative Party Conference
If your going to have a Tory leader, at least it looks like your going to have an old Etonian toff.
To my mind there's nothing sadder than working class Tories. So all the Tory supporters will be able to at least doff their caps at someone who they will be able to consider their 'better'.

Re: Conservative Party Conference
Granny C, I could see you replying to this post and was a little afraid.
Now I've read your post, and your comment on Thatcher, I'd give you karma but I can't.
I owe you one.
