At elections a kind of tribal thing comes into play.
I'm guilty of it myself.

Silly Billy.

Personally I like to weigh up all the pros and cons.

Much more satisfying being a wolf, rather than a sheep, meekly following the sheep in front.

On the ball , again , jaysay.
I read too much into your not voting in a certain way.I took it that you abstained.
Still , I admire your voting conscientiously , and not like me just voting the way I did because I always do it that way.
I have said that I am a Socialist.Being realistic , I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance of the British adopting Socialism.
And by Socialism I don't mean Soviet style Communism or the State imposing it's will on the people. The nearest to what I mean is the sort of thing the founders of the Labour Party had in mind , but hasn't that passed it's sell-by date I ask myself.
Any way the people have spoken. We have a new Governmen , so that leaves me plenty of time before the next election to do plenty of soul-searching.
One thing I have decided to leave behind is playing silly party-political games .Michael Foot and Enoch Powell managed to achieve this.On policies they were wide apart but they had a great respect for each other , and they were respected for it by fellow parliamentarians. They weren't into the "personality culture" so evident today. They put forward views that were deemed unacceptable , but stuck by them throughout their careers showing no animosity to their critics.
Hope this has been one of your good days.

Yer quite right IMHO about the demise of socialism JCB, the bitch from the grocers store destroyed that. by changing the mindset of a large proportion of the nation. don't think it can ever return sadly, but suppose there may just be n outside shot of this coalition, changing minds,n people reverting back,

Did Lady Thaycher really destroy Socialism , cashman?
Was there anything socialist about the Labour Party led by Gaitskell , Wilson and Callaghan?
I think the Labour Party itself ditched anything that was socialist about it ,especially when it chose Hugh Gaitskell instead of Aneurin Bevan to lead it.

We were informed we would be getting funding way before the election, and the idea that my vote could be secured for financial gain is deeply, and personally offensive, to say the very least.

As stated on election day, I voted for the candidates I thought would do the best job. Period.

I'd be most interested if you'd care to clarify how you think my vote was made for 'self interest'.

(...and yes, the karma deduction will be from me.)

Nothing of the sort Garinda, the fact that you have said on here a few times, that you didn't want PB to become an MP because you'd lose him as a councillor, simple as that, now whether that was tongue in cheek by you or not, is another matter, but for you to think I meant it was to do with any donation, is well, I actually thought more of you than that

I didn't call you a liar.

Just said nice back track.

Perhaps if you posted what you actually thought, rather than cryptic slurs, such as my vote being made because of 'self interest', you wouldn't look as desparate as you do now.

Spin, lies, perhaps they're both the same.

Like the second time you sent me a pm, but addressed to someone else, but which the latter you claimed was a 'joke', could be called not being truthful.

'New Treasury minister Danny Alexander has charged taxpayers more than £13,000 for his wife to make 62 journeys between London and Scotland. '

'The Chief Secretary, who stepped in after David Laws resignation for abusing his expenses, ran up the highest bill of any MP for using the little-known perk last year.
Mr Alexander's wife, 35-year-old magazine writer Rebecca Hoar, used public money to travel between Westminster and their family home in the North-East Highlands.'

'The average cost of the trips – by rail and by air – between London and Inverness was £209.'
