Of course, those flourescent lights can be recycled, and Bullseyebarb is into one of her usual one-sided analyses-rants, this time ignoring all the highly beneficial and large reduction in greenhouse gases (not to mention how much less oil we will need to import) that new lighting technology offers!

Karma to Eric!

Just be sure you don't break any of those fluorescents in la casa, Billcat.

Re: Conserving energy?

There was a chap from Blackpool on the radio this morning who said that those three windmills are only the first of many which have been proposed. Some they hope to have with illuminations attached and will be powering their own lights as well as feeding surplus into the general system. They are also using a low voltage bulb these days which doesn't use as much electricity. They can't use the energy saver bulbs because they can't be made to flash on and off due to the length of time it takes them to warm up but eventually he said the illuminations would be self sufficient and adding extra back into the system which makes a lot more sense than the idea reported of just three rather expensive windmills which didn't seem to save very much for what they were costing.

Re: Conserving energy?

I read another report where it explains that the cost for all three is £147,000 not for each one. So from your post they've already saved £288,000.
