When your on first name terms with more than one pub landlord, someone has to pay your 'strap' bill.

Everything gets decided on that one vote. All they need is a majority to pass something - doesn't matter how many that majority is by.

Plus if it's all equal then the Mayor at the time gets the deciding vote - we have a Conservative Mayor at the moment.

PS - Neil I think it was £160,000.

I think they alternate between Conservative and Labour for the Mayor don't they? It was Dr Rahman last time who was Labour,this time it's Tony Dobson for the Conservatives so next time we'll have a Labour Mayor again.

That is unless the Tories (PB) moves the goal posts again.

I think Graham actually has posted something along these lines in that there was some argy bargy between them for who is mayor next time, I could be wrong but it rings a distant bell
