Re: Council tax rebate

I'm on the cusp of two bands, and yup they've put us on the higher of the 2.

I'm in the process of appealing it, so hopefully we'll get a rebate.

Re: Council tax rebate

Annoying thing now is that I can't cash the cheque yet. Despite it being my house, me living there on my own most of the time, me paying the bills and it all coming out of my own account, the cheque is made out to both of us. Aarrgh.

Re: Council tax rebate

Yes, but can't find paying in book! lol

Plus, my money so wanted to put it in my account to spend on fripperies - if it goes into joint account will end up going to mortgage or something boring like that.

You should be able to put the cheque into the account without using a paying in book, just take your bank card your account details are on that.

Re: Council tax rebate

Ok, so now I find myself in a very unusual position - praising Cllr Britcliffe.

I wrote an email to the council to ask if they could reissue the cheque under my name and received no response. So, I wrote to my ward Councillor, who just so happens to be Cllr Britcliffe) this morning asking if he could advise on the best way to deal with it. It's now 2pm, and I've received an email from someone in the rebate section saying that they have cancelled the old cheque and a new one is on its way with just my name on it.

Credit where credit's due - thank you.
