It should not be hard to find out who used your card.Well not if it was a genuine insurance company. After all they will have the details of the car insured and owner of said car can soon be traced.I can see a problem if it was a bogus com.
Have you been to the Police or are you waiting for the bank to contact you, take my advise and make a police report because it takes a week to see an officer,at least it did in my case.Took me 2 yrs to resolve my case, hope you do better.Good luck and if i can help?

Re: Credit Card Scam

Hate all this credit card business..and direct debit stuff, we are almost forced to use these methods of payment.. and even our incomes depend on bank transfers and such.
It's all progress they will say.. but I like to pay in cash and get my dosh in cash. if a computer breaks down ..or some clerk presses the wrong button or date then I'm in trouble.

Re: Credit Card Scam

Most likely there has been a failure in some automated process and a batch of entries have been manually input. then along comes a human and mistypes the number.

As others have said, if it was for a 50" TV maybe a scam, the fact that its traceable to a person so easily suggests its more likely a bank error. It could even have been an over the phone payments and the insurance guy has hit the wrong number.

I thought you'd be agreeing cashy, I like paying cash but seeing I use the Net to by things and the phone I do have to rely on plastic more than I like

Very unlikely because as well as the 16 digit number on the front of the card there is a 3 digit security number on the back.To get them both wrong and for them to tally must be millions to one.

Yes they do - but they dont always ask for the 3 digit number - a few times ive not been asked for it.

Re: Credit Card Scam

exactly, not all places use teh security number yet, just read out your number and job done, some don't even have to enter the expiry date
