Re: Crewe and Nantwich
Had to laugh at the latest development - the Labour party got two blokes to dress up as top-hatted toffs to highlight the fact that the Tory feller is an upper-class, public-school educated type - a tactic which was approved by old Gord no less. It now turns out that one of these fellas went to public-school himself (although not the same public school as the aptly-named Ed Balls). Mr Bean strikes again!
Vote Monster Raving Loony - you know it makes sense!

Re: Crewe and Nantwich
The class warefare Labour have tried to stir up is disgracful. I hope it backfires on them greatly.
For starters the Labour candidate is not just an 'unemployed single mother of 5' she is on Burkes Peerage and Gentry list which the Conservative candidate is not on. ( http://bp0.blogger.com/_EQc_hLHXONE/...toff_totty.jpg)

Re: Crewe and Nantwich
The Conservatives turned the Labour 7000 majority into a 8000 Conservative one. Absolutely outstanding, never expected such a big win.

the BBC site says it a 17% swing , what would that mean nationally in number of seats of a conservative majority at Westminster ?

I'm glad Crewe didn't listen to that sort of incorrect scare-mongering.

I don't think you understand. The Conservative party are not about the 'rich'. You might have heard Labours stupid arguments in Crewe that tried to make it into a class war. The Conservatives are all for helping people help themselves. We are all for community, why not? What shouldn't we be?

Child labour laws
The National health service
The right for women to vote
Invalid income laws
Why ..in over 200yrs have you changed now?

I'm sorry, but I see that now under a Labour government...
Just need to walk into the job centre during the week and see many 'weak, frail, unemployable' people struggling to find work. Why doesn't the Labour Government fix it whilst they still have control? They either can't or they just don't care. Either way, I feel like they've failed the working class and are now focusing on other social groups because they've caused too much damage that can't be repaired. Thankfully it seems that people are seeing through their act and voting for a party that can and will fix the problems as much as it possibly can. The fact that they have been privately educated and have wealthy backgrounds should be irrelevant.

Ive never heard such tripe. Ive actually heard a new "class" introduced recently, which I thought was a joke but apparently it exists - the welfare class. Once you have severed the bovine excrament from this ridiculous definition it roughly translates as "I get paid to sit at home and watch the never ending stream of 24 hour cable crap - like a sad character out of little Britain - so who's the mug, me? Or you who work for a living?"
Lets just be clear about this, there is no element of current conservative policy that includes taking benefits away from those that actually deserve them - those who are genuinely disabled or those that are elderly and actually need state support. A policy introduced several months ago aimed to reduce benefits to those who didnt want to work and I cant see how that's unfair! Why should those who get up everyday, facing the same problems as everyone else, and still got to work to earn their living have to stump up for those who cant be bothered or expect things handing out on a plate for them??? The welfare state should be there for people who need it, as a safety net - not a comfort blanket. This government has put the sword to the workers of the country and wonders why there is a backlash when those who work are facing every increasing pressures and those who dont can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.
Absolutely fantastic result in Crewe - Lots of people will now be talking about how that would translate in a General election, if ever there was a need for a good, sensible and fair Conservative government then this is that time.
