Daylight saving time in US, we have to be different
ok folks/people (see another thread) from tonight you are one hour closer to your American friends/ buddies , Billcat, LYY and Bullseyebarb are only 4 hours away and I (on the Pacific coast) only 7 hours distant , the powers that be in the U S have declared that Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend ,
What do you folks/people think about Daylight Saving Time (DST) is it a good thing or not , I'm a morning person and like the early sunrise , it doesn't really save me any energy since I am out of the house before sunrise anyway , the only downside to me is the local kids playing out when its my bed-time,
Thought of setting up a poll thing about who prefers what but cant figure it out (sorry Mods) but i think most folks/people who have jobs prefer the early morning daylight just as a bit of insurance on the morning commute .

Re: Daylight saving time in US, we have to be different
I find the change so extra early to be quite the drag. I'd actually just let nature take it's course and slowly "wake-up" to spring. I'm usually out working till the sun goes down so will have that more extra time to do more than I should!

Steeljack/Billcat others, do you guys get into March Madness (US College Basketball championship tourney). Me and the family make picks every year. We find it quite fun and it helps us enjoy it that much more!

Not much chance of that with the clock demons at work ...... You reckon we should call in The Doctor to investigate
I did once try to contact him about the trump monster that makes awful noises in the loo pan but he was having none of it

It will not make a ha'porth of difference to yours truly as my late Father said "anyone who rises before the flags are aired has to be hard up"

Re: Daylight saving time in US, we have to be different
I like Daylight savings time, because I like having daylight later in the evening. If the extra daylight remained in the morning, it would just wake me up well before I need to be up and about.
LYY, I pay virtually no attention to March Madness. Frankly, I don't spend a lot of time worrying about sporting events. I've seen plenty of them over the years and have begun to find that they feel repetitive. Of course, if it is a lovely day, I might go to the stadium and watch a football or basebell game, but only with friends, so a whole social aspect is added.

Brian , I would sooner watch paint dry or dig out an in-grown toe-nail , why such a boring game gets so much coverage I have no idea , in England its a game played by High-School girls , only its a bit more difficult (they have no backboard) its called netball .
And why publicly funded places of education should be used as a training ground for multi-million dollar sports franchises is beyond me , Youngsters should be in college for an academic education not to play sports and end up with a third rate degree in basket weaving. The argument that it is a way of providing an education (sports scholarship)to underpriviliged minority youth is a fallacy since the drop out rate for these kids is about 90% .
