Delay in NHS Comp system
The plans for Computerising the NHS in Engand will be delayed even further after a suppliers contract wa terminated. Fujitsu's contract was terminted at a cost of around £900,000, the total cost is going to be £12.7 billion. This IT system, which is already 4 years behind, will transfer all patient records to computer

Re: Delay in NHS Comp system
So many government departments have got into a mess when replacing people with new technology.
The computer cannot (yet) replace people successfully.
When oil runs out we will have power rationing.
Anyone know of a computer that can work by candlelight?

Re: Delay in NHS Comp system
Another demonstration of the Government simply not understanding technology.
Anyone after ID cards?

Private Eye ran an in-depth story about this quite some time ago, during the Blair era. At that point, the cost was quoted at £12.4 billion although, like the cost of the London Olympics, the amount is rising all the time.
As they said, £12.4 billion would pay for...
26,000 doctors for ten years.
65,000 nurses for ten years.
The NHS's record 2005/06 decifict 23 times over.
every hospital built since 1997 three times over.
Instead, we have a potentially unworkable IT system.
Classic New Labour.

Re: Delay in NHS Comp system
Chuck in the cost of two illegal wars, the renewal of Trident and the forever escalating Quangoes and you can see why there is a national deficit of some £700 billion.
Brown for selling much of our gold reserves for a knock down price to fund Blair’s follies have a lot to answer for.
If any family run their finances in the same manner as Labour run the country’s that family would have declared bankruptcy long ago.

Good old great aunt Aggy.

I like that John. I can see where she is comming from in one way. Look at all the people that win a fortune on the lottery and within a few years have nowt. Or some Z rated celebs, a good example would be that daft scouser with the large implants that did the Iceland ads on TV, sorry can't remember her name (just her assets ).
