Re: Didn't take long
the pharmacy in the pals building is actually "Bentleys" which was across from Peel House, which closed n moved yon, i was not aware n trailed from the pals up to the old one which was shut, had a notice in window saying they had moved, so a very annoyed cashy trailed back n said do ya not think it would have been a good idea to tell yer regulars ya were moving? especially the ones that have collect the stuff from you, they replied there has been a notice on our window fer a couple of weeks before we moved, i said if you approach from avenue parade etc you dont even see that window as its past your enterance and about 5 ft in the air, plus even if i did i would not have seen it, cos i collect my stuff monthly as most people do, they didn't seem that interested, so cashy just thought STUFF YOU n i will go elsewhere in future. think the one up huncoat is on iffy ground, can't see it suceeding, hope it does but.....

Re: Didn't take long
I can recommend Boots. They are really good and if you have a repeat prescription they order it and everything. All you have to do is go and collect it from the chemist every month.

I have reduced my prescription meds down to paracetemol only, by using alternative medicine, and I don't feel the need for any painkiller very often, so I no longer use the prescription delivery service.
Once when I did, Lloyds did let me down and I was without painkillers for a weekend.
I have heard that Boots is excellent - well done Lindsay

I sometimes use a pharmacy next door to my doctor.
It is quite amazing how long they take to dispense a prescription, even if you are the only one waiting.
I am convinced that they deliberately go slow, so that you will be tempted to browse and buy off their shelves out of sheer boredom.

Compared with the hospital pharmacy Margarat I bet her're like Speedy Gonezarles

Re: Didn't take long
Bentleys next to where the doctors used to be were always extremely slow.
Like Margaret said even if you were the only one in there it took forever.
Glad i don't have to go there anymore!

Re: Didn't take long
I don't think it's a such a bad idea taking the conveniently over priced paper shop into account.
It's a good idea for people that find it difficult to get into town or aren't able to arrange to have their medication delivered, or for folk that just prefer to go into the shop to get it themselves.
Personally i'd prefer a walk down into the village for meds than having to make my way into the town centre, saves me money on fuel.
It's just a pity the owners haven't been able to sort out sufficient CCTV etc!

I work in hospital pharmacy and although your prescriptions can take a while its usually down to workload, patients always think that if there's only a couple of you in the waiting room then thats all there is to be done. I assure you its not the case, most people drop off their script and go for a brew its not unusual to have 10 or more prescriptions in front of yours and only 2 technicians to dispense for out-patients. Believe me we try our best

I think you should read the thread on my hospital experiance grego, and the new system they have in place for discharging patients, in short i was dumped off the ward and in the amblance departure lounge, waiting for my TTOs for four and a half hours, I hope you can see my point

Re: Didn't take long
To All you cynics out there
As the owner of Huncoat Pharmacy, i would just like to say the following
The shop was not robbed - it was a handbag theft
The shop has fully fitted CCTV and linked alarms and roller shutters
The shop has exceeded its 1st month targets (thank you to all the people whom support it)
As a village amenity you should all be supporting it!!
There is a need for the Pharmacy - the Primary Care Trust Agreed and no other chemist appealed against the decision to open a Pharmacy in Huncoat.
We do offer a fully collection and delivery service from all local surgeries - to save you the hassle of going into accrington
& for all the elderly/disabled people this is of great benefit
Thanks you for the support Elusive
Miss Technophobe - maybe you should try us - you dont know what we have to offer until you try!!!
I will keep you posted on any further updates

Re: Didn't take long
Just to set the record straight. I do support it, I'm not knocking it being opened, and I have used it a couple of times and probably will again in the future.
I also don't have a problem with Huncoat. I love it here and have no intention of moving. My only grievance is the Post Office closing down. Using it virtually every day and having no transport is a real pain, but thats another story.

Re: Didn't take long
Dear Miss Technophobe
I tried my best to support the Pharmacy
I offered to buy the premisis and share the premisis with him and offer rent free to the post office and his accomodation to him so that his running cost were kept to a minimum
He would not have it!and with the Post office offering large sums of money to shut down, its not surprising that he took the money in the end.
Feel free to call in to the Pharmacy and ask for my number if you have anything that may improve or help us to make a go of the Pharmacy
Regards
Sarj

I took them both back upstairs to the reception, told her my problem. She made a few phone calls and ascertained that Lloyds in Peel Street had the 'totally unavailable' item currently in stock and could get me the other one by the following morning! Why is the pharmacy within the medical centre so inefficient in comparison to a town centre pharmacy?
|
If you get stuck again for out of stock items then you could try the pharmacy next to Brown street medical centre if you don't want to go all the way to Peel street, they are quite good.
