Re: Disabled parking warning

You need to check out Accrington Arndale's new parking rules - since mid March2016, I think it was when the new rules came in. You cannot park for more than 3 hours, or you get fined. You are NOT allowed to return to the car park within 90 mins. You get fined also if your car is NOT lined up correctly in the parking area (its not lines though, its those little corner markings, so beware). Whether this rule applies to a disabled vehicle, I am afraid I am not sure.

Re: Disabled parking warning

Thanks for that Atarah I did not know new rules had come in.I hope they are displayed more prominently than Skipton's.

Yes, there are signs all over the place but no mention of parking on the lower two floors, so who is allowed to park there is anybodies guess at the moment.

Re: Disabled parking warning

I hope that they use the word "fine" too.

As far as I know Only a court can fine you.

I rarely use the place, now I won't use it at all. Well done the council. Soon be a Ghost Town.

Re: Disabled parking warning

I suppose with all the shops closing no one will need to stay more than 3 hours.

Re: Disabled parking warning

I have noticed during the last couple of weeks or so that there seems to be far more empty spaces than there used to be. Perhaps the shop staff aren't parking on the lower floors anymore. Still no indication as to who can park on the two basement levels.

Re: Disabled parking warning

I just wanted to confirm they are frying anyone at the moment who's tyre is over the white of yellow disabled line in the Accrington Arndale Centre car park.

My disabled better half had a one tyre 1" onto the yellow disabled line and received a ticket. Pay £60 within 14 days or £100. Having lived in Accrington for many decades and shopped in the Arndale Centre using the parking facilities this is the last time and has certainly left a sour taste.

I was myself beginning to wonder why the Arndale was looking so devoid of shoppers let alone shops, I feel now we have found the answer as the love of it is certainly being lost. It does beg the question what are the council doing, £100 come on?

Re: Disabled parking warning

I park on the Arndale if I need to go in WH Smith or O2, if just going on the market then I park on Dutton St or on Peel St. If I do park on the Arndale I check that I am clear of the lines, easy enough to do, you don't even have to get out of the car.

Re: Disabled parking warning

Good heavens. They even worse than Skipton. The fines are certainly steeper. Looks like because not as many folk are using the car park they have thought this line thing up to make up the deficit. Disgraceful.
