Correct.. even the tories would not sink so low as to expect invalids to work for under the minimum wage.. but given time they'll do away with it, and anything else they regard as "unrequired" expense.

From the same news article.

A Conservative Party spokesman told the BBC: "These comments do not reflect the views of the Conservative Party and do not reflect government policy".

Do try and give a balanced view.Or is that impossible for you?

Re: discrimation

people know the way politicians work. this is just a broadside shot to whatever they are up to, i think the nmw will be going for the long term unemployed which is discrimination

I think this is best described as 'sounding the water' to judge reaction.
If non-one had shouted 'foul' it may well have been included in policy.

Give that man a coconut.
Why should he feel that the disabled are worth paying less?
Disabled people have the same outgoings as those who are able bodied.

I thought that there was a requirement for employers to employ a certain percentage of disabled people in their workforce(Something at the back of my brain is telling me 2%...but I could be wrong).

Because someone has a disablility does not mean they cannot do a job which they are capable of...a person in a wheelchair can do data input as good as an able bodied person as long as they have the right training.
This MP is a goon and deserves to be ridiculed for his daft idea.

Don't you know that politicians get their disclaimers from the same barnyard, using perhaps the same shovel, that provides speeches from the throne, justifications for attacking some poor country in the Middle East, and anything that comes out of the PM's mouth as he stands on the steps of Number 10.
