I think you're wrong there. It was about 9 years earlier.

Re: DNA..Horror
Whenever my parents were mad at me about something I remember wishing I was really the child of someone intriguing who would come and whisk me away to my true heritage! I'd probably have hated it if they did though.

Re: DNA..Horror
A boy who lived near me, when I was a child, had been adopted just after the war. When I heard about it I wanted to be an adopted child too, it seemed very "exotic". I was quite disappointed when my mother assured me that I was just a plain old common-or-garden natural child.

Re: DNA..Horror
Was reading about this in todays paper and the couples are going to get their own children back. Apparently they are getting to know the children and hope to be back together before Christmas.

Re: DNA..Horror
I read an article about them too. One mother said she wished she could keep both children. They do realise it's going to take a lot of adjustment. I feel so sorry for them.

Re: DNA..Horror
Yes so do I but I think I would have asked a few more questions at the hospital. There were some discrepencies with the babies weights which should have been picked up on IMO.

Re: DNA..Horror
It is too easy for the nurses to get it wrong. When I was in Bramley Meade in 1965 the babies were only with you at feedtimes, and they once delivered me the wrong baby for feeding. I must admit that the baby DID resemble mine and my suspicions were aroused only because he seemed to have gained a lot of weight since the last feed. A check of the wristband averted disaster - thank goodness it had not become detatched.

Re: DNA..Horror
That was one of the things they brought up, how the babies weight had changed so dramatically. The staff told them it had been recorded wrong at birth.

Re: DNA..Horror
Maybe they should not cut the cord until mother and child are on the way out of the hospital.

Re: DNA..Horror
There was this film on tele a few years ago ,,a real tearjerker.starring Milissa Gilbert ,,(Laura Ingals in Little house on the prairie),,The two mothers ended up with both of them bringing up both children,,because they had each bonded with the wrong child, and wanted and loved the natural child too,,,

Re: DNA..Horror
The parents would have to get on really well with each other though and agree on how the children are brought up for that to work wouldn't they? They might have totally different ideas on child rearing.

Re: DNA..Horror
I'll bet there are one or two children who wouldn't mind swapping their parents
