Then you will understand my objections to certain individuals who deliberately mis-name me.
A typo I can accept but deliberately mis-naming a person is just crass ignorance. It’s the sort of behaviour that belongs in a Kindergarten and so do the people who perpetrate such a discourtesy.

It is even more pathetic, lazy, disrespectful and insulting to call someone by a name other than their own.
Would you ask your greengrocer for a pound of CP’s?
Would you call your boss by his initials or his abbreviated name to his face, unless it was the norm?
This whole issue is a puerile sub-conscious attempt to try and establish an infantile superiority over the person you name. Old fashioned foremen would often mis-name a new employee as a means of establishing who is boss. Tradesmen would also employ the same tactic when addressing their apprentices.

Re: Do people feel funny about others using their real names?
Doesn't bother me either. Only difference with my name and my user name is that on here the H is not added. Reason is that i didn't realise i'd not put the H on until after i registered.

I once, in affection, called a member on this forum 'Jim Bitty', inspired by that sterling BBC programme, Little Britain.
I'm not sure how well it went down.
Probably not as well as Mummy's milk.
