Of course they will, they are all born leaders, they are prepared to make any personal sacrifice to get us through these hard times.

Must go now my scurvy has caused three more teeth to drop out and I must put them under my pillow for the tooth fairy, (let's face it more chance of her turning up than that lot refusing more money).

Death, taxes & MP wage increases.

I seem to remember a few years ago, they did refuse a pay increase then a year or so later voted not just for a pay increase but also to make the new rate equivalent to the full amount they would have got had they accepted the earlier increase.

Can't remember if they went for back pay as well though.

Oh how they must love this era of (supposed) openess, and public scrutiny.

After all, if it was down to MPs, who always voted against transparency because it was a 'defence threat', we still wouldn't know anything about their expenses, and any of the resulting scandals.

If they decide to take the pay rise, they are even more stupid when it comes to judging public feeling, than we already think.

I suppose that depends on how much value you place on a thousand pounds.

Frequently Asked Questions: MPs - UK Parliament

What is the annual salary of an MP?

£65,738 as of 1 April 2010

I could do a lot with £657 - fuel bills for a year comes to mind

A political furore has erupted after MPs vowed to overturn a plan by David Cameron to deny them a £1,000 pay rise.

The official body which sets MPs’ wages is next month expected to recommend their salary of £65,738 goes up by about £20 a week.

Well my last post was tongue in cheek G but the article does not surprise me one little bit even if it is from the Mail
