Re: Doctor Who?
My favourite Doctor was Jon Pertwee which is strange because when I'd heard he was taking over from Patrick Troughton I was convinced that he would be terrible. I'd previously seen the silly comedy side of him which comes over so well in Worzel Gummidge and I was sure that he would play it that way and make a mockery of something which although it is often ridiculed needs to be played seriously and taken seriously by those in the lead roles.
How wrong I was. The "bumbling twit" character which I expected to see never appeared but instead there was someone who to me at the time was totaly convincing as a time lord and believable with his sonic screwdriver reversing the polarity of the neutron field. One of the things which made that particular series more impressive too was the fact that the majority of it took place on earth during the time period we were watching. It was therefore far more realistic and believable to me than if it had been on other planets or other time periods. This was earth, here and now with scary things goin on!!
Roger Delgado was my favourite "Master" - very sly and cunning and I just loved Bessie.

It was brilliant but I see it more as a comedy in space than a sci fi show.

Re: Doctor Who?
Maybe the satellite TV forum could be persuaded to spell Jon Pertwee's name correctly?

Re: Doctor Who?
The site just got even more sad with a poll of "What do you think of the new series" and "Best Dr Who companion" with pictures posted like this
