Dodgy Donations

Some bloke called David Abrahams donates some spare cash to the Labour Party (£650,000 or so) but under other folks names. Apparently this is illegal. Our PM Mr Brown found this out on Saturday night and has since stated it as being unlawful and completely unacceptable, but, his first move is to set up yet another investigation by the Electoral Commission ( whoever they are and I stand to be corrected on this at any time )

Surely, if he knows it to be illegal or unlawful, he should have called the Police first. I imagine he sought counsel on the matter but why did it not enter the mans head to inform the Police ?

Gordon Brown’s integrity is under some scrutiny to say the least. I just don’t understand why he did not pick the phone up and call the Police when he found this out.

I may be being a tad naïve, if so feel free to point it out.

Wouldn't mind him donating some to me dodgy or not. Do things like this not happen all the time?

Re: Dodgy Donations

i personally am at a loss,as to why any buggar donating dosh to any political party under anything, should be illegal? cash for honours was a completely differant thing, but why should what anyone does with their own dosh regarding political parties matter?

I’ll take donations any day of the week no questions asked. Just seems a sorry state of affairs when something unlawful is being committed under the nose of our Prime Minister and having become aware of it that he is not compelled to report it to the authorities as you and I would ( and that he would expect any citizen to do )

It shouldn't matter one jot how people spend their cash, think maybe this has something to do with people attempting to fiddle favours or something or having some sort of lever or powerhold over the Party...not at all sure why it's illegal

That donor operates a property development company that MAY have had some planning application granted that otherwise wouldn't

As a hardened cynic, I always enjoy seeing politicians of any colour squirming. But it gives me particular pleasure to witness the discomfiture of this hypocritical, holier-than-thou, two-faced bunch. Gordon Brown has spent the last ten years being elsewhere, whenever the crap hit the fan, but now he's right in the spotlight and the strain is starting to show...bring it on!
