Re: does it make you tick when.....

I hate supermarkets but as Jambutty says, they are a necessary evil. I try to go first thing in the morning. 7am during the week is a good time, you're in and out in half an hour. Christmas is definitely the worst time to go. Accrington Asda car park is a nightmare at Christmas with the pathetic traffic management measures which the staff like to put in place. They need 2 exits. I hate it when people who have all the time in the world block the aisles with their trolleys while they have a nice long chat. Supermarket shopping has turned me into a very rude person and I have bashed trolleys out of the way with my own trolley and carried on walking before now, but it does serve them right for ignoring my "excuse me please." I too find it difficult to buy things in small quantities and because of this, probably a third of all the food I buy gets wasted... I'm supposed to be going to Asda today, but quite frankly I can't be bothered....

Hehehehe, I think my tea may be courtesy of the Akash tonight..

No they're not an evil necessity, we choose to visit them for convienence.

The high streets are awash with shops were there used to be the small independents, we now find them all under one roof at the supermarket.

However there are still some, and I tend to use them.

At my families bakery you can buy just one teacake if you so desire, and there is wheelchair access for all except the largest of scooters, when the assistants will come outside to serve you.

I don't think my Mum would let you sqeeze her teacakes though, but after sixty years of baking them I can assure you they will be fresh.

No squeezing then, but my Mum usually has the shopfull of people in stitches, and the caberet comess free.

I better say after reading through my post, my Mum hasn't been baking them for sixty years, before she lamps me, and people think she's older than she is!!!

I don't know if I should put this, but I'm sure I'll be informed if it's against the rules.

Re: does it make you tick when.....

I hate supermarket shopping every week me and daddinboo end up ranting at each other!!

And i dont know why they bother with parent and child parking what is the point of putting in about 4 of these spaces when they are going to be taken up by either people who clearly dont have any child with them or disabled people who put their badge in the window instead of parking in their allocated spaces which are usually closer any way!!!

And if i dont hear anyone saying excuse me its usually because i am too buzy telling my son who is sitting in the trolly to sit still and stop putting stuff in the trolly or trying to find my daughter who is usually in a world of her own usually fairy land and she has gone dancing off!! i hate it and i know he hates it and i know the kids hates it but it must be done.

squashed bread pah im usually lucky if there is any bread left no matter what time of day we go there never seems to be any left and we still have to stop at the spar to get after all that.

What a Nightmare.

My hubby is exactly the same as you neil...............many a time I have been caught out and sent him to the shop for these kind of things, he couldn't give a damn.
He will walk round the spar wqith them in his hand and it just never gives him any reason to feel awkward.
I think more men are like this these days. My dads era wouldn't be seen dead with anything like this, even talking about it sent him into a blushing, quivering mess. Which used to come in handy when me and tinks were teenagers, to get money out of him all you had to say was "dad can I have some money??'' dad would say "what for??" we would reply " ladys things dad" well his hand would be in his pocket, pulling money out left right and centre. I'm sure he knew we were liers because no woman has 5 periods in a month, lmao. But rather than stand there arguing about it with us, he would just throw the money at us, so he didn't have to have a coversation about it with his teenage daughters.

Re: does it make you tick when.....

I think it is a generational thing. My Dad used to say they shouldn't be advertised on tv, how daft is that? It's just another product that most women will have used at some stage of their lives.

Wish I'd have thought to ask my Dad for pocket money for 'lady' things, I could have bought some washing up gloves!!!

I dont mind shopping if I go alone.
If we go together from start to finish all we do is argue.
Then we end up not speaking for days.
It's my worse nightmare when he say's those dreaded words.
"I think I'l come with you."
MUMMIBOO's right Asda and Our lovely Grand-Daughter just do not mix.
It has never bothered Mick going to the shop for any personal items I may need.
