Its unlikely anyone will see it anyway if its inside and pointing out of your window, mine glows red at night with the Infra red lights on it so I can record at night
Well it's because of what a webcam is meant to be used for I guess, it's not for security, it's for personal use. I think you have to have a sign saying that you're recording too.
I always thought there was a disclosure thing.

A lot of people are putting them in for security and with yobs like this about who can blame them?

Thanks. I don't really know around there, so that's why I'd never heard of it.

I personally think its a bit weird wanting a camera in ya window!
if youths know what ya doing, then i think they are gonna do it all the more!
best way is to just leave em and with a bit of luck they will get bored!

Better still if they do any damage to your property you have a photo of them and you can go and find them before you inform the police

Re: Does This Youth Belong To You ?

Seriously now, theres been several hit and runs on our street, not pedestrians but cars being run into when people have failed to take the slight bend thats right outside our front door, you get a pic of the registration number and iot saves you having to pay the bill or claim on your own insurance

Re: Does This Youth Belong To You ?

I think it should be illegal to have a camera in your window personally if it isn't already.

Proving damage to your car is nothing when you've got the entire gang of chavs calling you a paedophile. Webcams dont stop bricks going through your window or worst still, petrol being poured through your letter box.

It happens, so is it really worth it? There is a guy at the bottom of our roa at home who does it and whilst its clearly for his car, I find it a bit weird that it points at the field where the kids play too. He has kids of his own but that doesn't mean much these days.

Re: Does This Youth Belong To You ?

I think its a great idea to have a camera especially nowadays.
If it catches the little sods in the act and means they are caught then all the better imo.
Why should people sit idly by whilst yobs try and ruin their lives?
As for the youth who threw the chemicals how about an eye for an eye?
Might stop the ******* then.

Re: Does This Youth Belong To You ?

So are they all paedophiles in the police room where they monitor the cctv camera's for the towns, just installed a camera in Rhyddings park thats sure for paedophiles then is it.
What about all the factory's up and down the place with camera's - what they spying on? prostitutes at work??
The cameras are up for a reason, you could say mine points at the fields were the kids play but you can come round anytime you like and I'll show you recorded footage, it just fits my car on with about 4-5 feet either side, vertically it covers my garden gate and about three quarters of the road, doesn't even see the footpath on the other side!
If someone walks down the pavement they look about 3" tall on the screen, can't see what use that will be for a paedophile can you?

Re: Does This Youth Belong To You ?

I think there is a very big difference between CCTV cameras and a webcam poking between someones curtains.

I guess its the lack of regulation that bothers me about people filming things out their windows.

It's regulated though by proper authorities. You can't regulate someone pointing a camera out their window.

And do you trust the authorities? - I surely don't

Anyway back to the attack for a min, "IF" this attack had happened on, lets say shillelagh's street and she recorded it with her webcam should she hand it to the police? I'm guessing your going to say yes to this, so is it a good thing or a bad thing

Of course it's worth it if you can identify who did the damage and the culprits can be punished. Why should they get away with damaging your property? No, the cameras don't stop people doing the damage but it may just put them off if they know they are being filmed and likely to be caught by the police.
