Margaret became a expert on doggy dodo, when dog walkers used to leave little parcels in her wheelie bin

Re: Dog Mess
In post#19 I said-
Hopefully this recession will have a positive side when people decide that they would rather feed themselves than a dog, so that dog ownership goes down.
Vets are reporting a reduction in the number of dogs being immunised against canine parvovirus
Canine parvovirus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and blame the recession for the reduction.
The virus is extremely hardy and has been found to survive in feces and other organic material such as soil for over a year. It survives extremely cold and hot temperatures
So those irresponsible dog owners who dont pick up the poop may well cause an epidemic which will result in a 'natural cull' of the dog population

Re: Dog Mess
I would like to make a recommendation to whoever it is that fines offending owners - anyone know who I send an email to?
I would like to suggest that someone visits Mayfield Avenue roughly between 8.15am and 8.45am and catch the dog owner that doesn't collect their dog's poo. The street is a disgrace and school children are walking the poo into the school every single day!!!!

Re: Dog Mess
Its a constant problem on Avenue Parade, because of the narrow grass verges. You've got to walk over these to get into or out of your car, and at night you cant see if theres Dog Muck there or not. I was told that because its Grass its ok for them to Poo there!!! Is this correct? Surely owners still have a responsibility to clear the mess up from their pets?
Best Regards - Taggy

It is NOT ok for dog poo to be left on grass, or anywhere else that is accessible to the public.
If you own land you are entitled to leave your dogs poo on it , but if a public footpath runs through it, that footpath must be poo free.

"If dog **** were snow, Accrington would be a ski resort."
.................................................. ........................
In the very first issue (?) of the Observer was a letter to the editor on this very subject, though I recall that it was Belthorn where the problem was. This has been the most-used subject matter in every local paper since they started.

And I think it will continue to be the most talked about subject Bob, until all dog owners take responsibility for their little four legged charges, but it won't be happening anytime soon

Re: Dog Mess
Have to agree that Alice Street/Turkey Street is a right nightmare, coming back from the pub is treacherous enough without the added risk of dog's eggs......

Alice Street has been like that for years Linds, used to live on there. Hope things are a bit better before my move back into the area but doubt they are, some things never change Lazy dog owners for at least twenty years, time something was done
