Don't Panic!!!!!
According to the Daily telegraph, Nine dead swans tested for bird flu in Britain
Just last week a government 'expert', stated that it would probably be six months before bird 'flu was going to enter this country, the following day France reported it's first confirmed case.
Now as well as all the environmental departments we also have John Reid, the Defence Secretary, telling us there is nothing over-much to panic about, call me picky but back in the 'good old day's' the defence secretary was known as, The secretary of War.
Having him involved does not fill me with hope.
Perhaps what we need to do is find every exposed piece of water that migrating birds are likely to use and dose it with Night Nurse, admittedly this will not cure the birds of the disease, but at least if they are too sleepy to take off we won't get covered in snot when they sneeze in mid-flight!

Re: Don't Panic!!!!!
Yeah its a big concern even though the swans tested negative, I dont think it'll be long before its in this country, the main concern from the government is whether we stop buying chicken or not! Doesn't seen right to me.

Re: Don't Panic!!!!!
isnt there a vacine available but our govenment sees as it to be too expensive to give people because bird flu might be on teh way
i thought that was the idea of a vacine
maybe after a few thousand people die the govenment might consider letting us lesser folk have it

Re: Don't Panic!!!!!
They said on the News, tonight, that the swans did not die of bird flu. So what was it, mass suicide?

Us mere mortals will be the last to know it has landed on our shores.

Re: Don't Panic!!!!!
I don't think I'll waste any time panicking. If it's coming here it's coming and panicking won't stop it.
I've got to the stage where if I can't change a thing I don't worry about it any more.

Re: Don't Panic!!!!!
It's not just migrating wild birds that we have to worry about. Apparently chicken sales in Italy have gone down by as much as 70% and sales in Germany are down by 20%. Guess where all that leftover chicken is heading?
You can expect fast food shops to be cashing in big-time on the cheap chicken bonaza.
Since thorough cooking kills the virus, it would seem sensible to only buy your chicken from reputable sources and cook it yourself, then you know that it has been cooked properly.
