Drama festival

Right, I'm going to have another go at a drama festival - six nights, six different plays at Ossy Civic Theatre.

So, I would really like your 'constructive' guidance as to what plays you would actually like to see (please stick to plays because musicals are big casts, big staging and not suitable for a 24 hour turnaround). You don't have to say specific plays if you don't want but genres - detective, shakespeare, etc.

What would appeal?

Re: Drama festival

Good classic plays suitable for family audience, my son loves drama / theatre amateur dramatics etc and there never seems to be anything local to take him to see, thats not too young, or too over his head. Sorry can`t think of any specific titles. I`d say adventure, with detective and a good ole twist to the tale. sounds like An Inspector Calls!

Or even for younger audiences still what about Dahl style plays? I know he went to see George`s Marvellous Medicine a while back and found it really good.

Good luck with it all, looking forward to coming to watch one night

Re: Drama festival

Would reckon comedies and farces would go down best.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to be of assistance in any way;btw Gayle an awful lot of us REALLY appreciate the way you keep grabbing the funding for OUR benefit that would otherwise go elsewhere or lie unclaimed; nice one!:engsmil:

Thumbs up Re: Drama festival

How about including one of John Godbers comedies in the season of plays?

The Hull Truck theatre Company have put on three productions; Up & Under; Going Dutch and Wrestling Mad at the Octagon Theatre, in Bolton, recently. They were extremely funny and very popular.

Good Luck with your efforts, Gayle.

Re: Drama festival

Sounds great, good luck.

Talking Heads monologues by Alan Bennet I think would be wonderful. Gayle could do the televised part played by Julie Walters and Katex could do Thora Hird's 'A Creamcracker under the Settee.' ( Only joking Kate x.)

Anything by Joe Orton would be funny.

What about "The Woman in Black"? lovely little ghost story, simple set, small cast and if its done well will scare the s**t out of the audience.
